(Meals today: B & D) Tuesday, December 6 – We’ll need a bountiful breakfast plate today because we’ve got a lot of our “plate” today. We’ll tour Old Towne Portsmouth, see the Courthouse Galleries, see the “Winter Wonderland” and Trinity Church, visit the General Douglas MacArthur Memorial, ride a tram thru the Christmas lights at the Norfolk Botanical Gardens, and, take a drive and see the lights along the Virginia Beach Boardwalk. Another delicious dinner is in store tonight. (Meals today: B & D) Wednesday, December 7 - Today’s our big day at COLONIAL WILLIAMSBURG. After a late “check-out” from our hotel (hey, we need more time on the beach this morning) we’ll load up and head out for a fun and history filled day at Colonial Williamsburg. This afternoon we’ll walk thru the streets of Colonial Williamsburg as it was in 1775. As we take in all of the historic sites & adventures, you may hear a Fife & Drum Corp coming your way, or some notables of times past, such as Patrick Henry or Thomas Jefferson, may pass you on the street & stop and “sit a spell” with you and talk politics or current events (1775 style). After all, it was here that our Founding Fathers laid the groundwork for our great nation. Listen carefully for a young lady telling friends how she met her husband, George Washington. Folks like Thomas Jefferson, George Washington & Patrick Henry are hanging around local taverns, plotting a free country. Local costumed towns-folks gather at shops, the courthouse, the churches and street corners, gossiping and sharing rumors of impending war with England. And, you are there! As Martha Washington fields questions from a crowd, just down the street, in the dark of night, a woman is being tried for witchcraft. Care to be a jury member? Christmas at Colonial Williamsburg, December, 1775. What a way to ring in the season. (Meals today: B & D) Thursday – December 8 - What’s left? We’ve done it all! Hold on there, my friend. We haven’t had lunch yet today. And, we’re going to the best place for lunch anywhere in the United States. Michie’s Tavern. It’s so good, even President Thomas Jefferson ate there regularly. (You see, his home-Monticello) is just down the road a bit. After lunch, it’s on to Roanoke where we will overnight. (Meals today: B, L & D) Friday – December 9 – Today we’ll make our way home. We nap, play games, watch movies and just reflex on all we’ve seen and done during this great Christmas Holiday-Filled tour.
