The Gateway To The West, the St. Louis Arch, will greet us about lunch time. As we pass thru St. Louis you’ll know that we’re officially on our way. We’ ll overnight in St. Joseph, MO. Jesse James was killed here. We’ll see his home before we leave. (Meals included today: D). You will see a “Meals” guide at the end of the day’s events. “B” is breakfast, “L” is lunch, & “D” is dinner. Today, for example, dinner is included in your tour price. TUESDAY – AUGUST 9 After a delicious breakfast at our hotel this morning, we’ll point our motor coach north and travel up thru Iowa and into South Dakota. Hundreds of thousands of acres of corn and their famous “amber waves of grain” wave at us as we travel to our destination for the evening. Tonight we’ll stay at a beautiful Lodge in South Dakota on the banks of the “Wide Missouri”. It sould be a special evening as we’ ve arranged for an old fashioned “steaks on the grill” catered cookout near the river’s banks. Now, settle in and get a good night’s rest because tomorrow’s a day full of adventure. (Meals: B & D) WEDNESDAY –AUGUST 10 This morning we’ll enjoy another hot breakfast before we depart for The Badlands of South Dakota. Bring plenty of film. After our tour of this rugged northwestern terrain, we’ll stop for lunch at the world famous Wall Drug Store in Wall, SD. Featured on all major TV networks, popular magazines and newspapers worldwide, it was the place to stop for free ice water during the dust bowl and the Great Depression. After lunch it’s on to Mt. Rushmore. Later we’ll visit the unique western town of Keystone, SD where we’ll check into our comfortable hotel for the evening. Even the guys will want to buy souvenirs here. (Meals: B) THURSDAY – AUGUST 11 This morning after breakfast we’ll start our trek into Wyoming and on to Montana’s Big Sky Country where we’ll spend the night in Billings, Mt. First, we’ll visit the unique and inspiring “Devil’s Tower” just outside of Sundance, Wyoming . This is the first time we’ve added a stop here and it’s sure to be an interesting visit. (Meals: B & D) FRIDAY – AUGUST 12 I am sure you will enjoy this day as much as I always do. We will take a short drive from Billings, Montana to West Yellowstone, Montana where we will overnight. West Yellowstone is just about 15 miles from the main western entrance of Yellowstone National Park and just an interesting small town. From our hotel, we can walk to all corners of the town visiting the unique restaurans and shops. Here we’ll have a lot of free time to shop and rest up from for even more fun to come. (Meals: B) SATURDAY – AUGUST 13 A big breakfast is in store for us today before we leave for Yellowstone Park and “Old Faithful”. You’ve heard about it, you’ve seen it on television, but today it’s really real. Entering Yellowstone from the West, you’ll see a lot of the park, including some of the more than 10,000 boiling springs, mud pots and geysers and, of course, “Old Faithful”. In fact, our lunch break will be at the park lodge right at “Old Faithful”. Enjoy it while having lunch and then go outside and see it up close and personal. Watch for black & grizzly bears, bald eagles, & herds of buffalo or elk as we travel thru the park. We’ll leave the park early afternoon and head to Cody for a very interesting evening. There just might be a bunch of rowdy cowboys and cowgirls coming out of the saloons in Cody just a’looking for a fight. Hold on to your hats; them thar cowpokes have had a bit too much to drink and their aim just ain’t that good.”. We’ll overnight at the Buffalo Bill Resort in Cody. (Meals: B) SUNDAY – AUGUST 14 As they say, “You ain’t seen nothing yet”! After yesterday’s collection of scenery and attractions - what next? Anything scheduled today would have a tough act to follow, but what you’ ll see today might just be more beautiful than anything you’ve ever seen before. After traveling thru more of beautiful Wyoming this morning, we’ll next visit the Big Horn National Park. The rims, the gorges, the caverns, the waterfalls, the colored rock walls cannot be described. I have never seen anything like this place. Our drive will take us up to over 9000 feet before we start our descent. The roadway lowers toward the bottom of beautifully sculptured colored rock walls. Every turn in the road brings on constant change. It’s not as deep as the Grand Canyons, but picture yourself driving thru the Grand Canyon at the bottom - looking up. Bring lots of film. Tonight’s our chuck wagon dinner shows. We’ll overnight again in South Dakota. (Meals: B & D ). MONDAY – AUGUST 15 Today we head toward Mitchell, South Dakoka. You’ve no doubt heard of the Corn Palace. If not, I’m going to leave it to your imagination. We’ll overnight in Sioux Falls where we’ve another very special dinner planned. (Meals: B & D) TUESDAY & WEDNESDAY – AUGUST 16th & 17th - During the last two days of our vacation, we’ve still got a lot to see and do enroute home.
